2012 will be a most exciting year in Britain and especially in London.

We have the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, that magnificently descriptive chronicler of Victorian London.

Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne in February 1952, and the celebration of this Diamond Jubilee takes place in the first week of June, with a river pageant, street parties and several exhibitions including a fantastic collection of diamonds.

And in August the world will be watching the Olympic and Paralympic Games. I am a qualified Olympic venues guide and in the build up to the games I can show you the site of the Olympic park, and the other venues across London. Events are taking place all over London, many in stunning historic settings, such as the equestrian events in Greenwich Park or the beach volleyball in Horse Guards Parade.

There will be a superb, friendly and affable atmosphere across this great city. Come and join the world in London in 2012.

The Olympic rowing and canoe regattas at Eton Dorney, near Windsor finish every day at lunchtime. Let me meet you or your group and we can spend the afternoon away from the crowds, discovering some secret corners of this part of England as we return to the town centre along the River Thames via a picturesque, 1000 year old church, and Eton town. Or find a traditional English pub if you wish to celebrate the day’s sporting successes.

2012 will be a magnificent year, and I’d be delighted to help you discover the Olympic city.
